INTRODUCTION:  Rides & Smiles began in March of 2004 in the North County Inland region of San Diego County.

Remarkable Initiative:  Rides & Smiles is the largest volunteer-based transportation service is San Diego.  The service utilizes an innovative web-based scheduling system where volunteers can access their appointments

Mission and Services:   Rides & Smiles is a specialized volunteer based transportation program designed to take seniors to medical appointment, grocery shopping, hair appointments, to visit a spouse in a nursing home and other necessities. Volunteers use their own vehicles and Jewish Family Service reimburses mileage and provides secondary auto insurance.

Special Funding:   Jewish Senior Services Council, New Freedom, TransNet- Senior Mini Grants, and Donations

 Future Expectations:   Rides & Smiles is one service of On the Go:  Transportation Solutions for Older Adults.  Our desire is to expand On the Go to additional regions of San Diego County.
